HERE'S WHAT AUDIENCES ARE SAYING ABOUT SWIMMING TO THE MOON

Unsolicited Audience reviews from GOLDSTAR Entertainment Members

"If your a Doors fan, I urge you to run to see this show, while it's still in LA! Very good cast. The play centers around the last day of Jim's life, interesting and thought provoking. Drama, comedy, mystery, song and a few surprise appearances all sucessfully interwoven. Great script writing! I loved the whole play and how it ended. I went with a friend who is very knowledgeable about the Doors music, he can be quit critical, and he completely enjoyed this production."

"This play was a true surprise for me since it was not what I had expected.....there is little actual music in it. It takes place "after" Jim Morrison's death in a kind of "this is your life" recap. It also goes into some detail as to what the 60's were all about.....the good & the bad.  The acting was excellent. Damon Shalit as Jim Morrison was wonderful. There are some physical similarities, but during the show, he convinces you that he is Morrison. Russell Richardson's portrayal of Jimi Hendrix was so amazing, I thought I was seeing a ghost.

"We took 2 teenagers with us and we all came out talking about Morrison and the 60s."
The play is so well done that the 2 hours simply flew by."

"I LOVED it and the direction and the casting was fantastic!!!! Super evening and I highly recommend it.
Thanks....."

"I really enjoyed it and it did not even seem as a 2 hour play, that's when you know it's gooooood =P

This is a wonderfully acted play. It makes me want to learn more about Mr. Morrison and The Doors band. Very, very moving experience.

This is a play that really sticks with you. The acting is amazing with every character. I never realized how interesting a person Jim Morrison must have been.

Thank you, Mr. Flaxman.

I saw the play today and felt like Mr. Flaxman has made a pact with the devil in exchange for an opportunity to tap into the unconsciousness of Jimmy Morrison, and probably my own as well. During the play I felt as though I have connected with every part of the "disconnected" character on multiple levels. It is one of those rare occasions when the mastery of the writer is matched by the perfomance of the actors involved. I would like to be recycled to go see it again...

I saw this play over a week ago and it has taken me some time to let it sink in. I have seen a lot of mediocre work in new theatre but this was one of those rare exceptions. Swimming To The Moon is an emotonal portrayal of one of our real Rock idols. What a fascinating character Jim Morrison was and one wonders what more he would have done if he had llived longer. Great cast, wonderful script, a real theatre experience.

I'm a big Jim Morrison fan and was expecting a different kind of play. Was I surprised! This was an excellent portrayal of Mr. Mojo Risin'. Instead of focusing on the drugs and rock n' roll this showed a portrait of a true artist. After all if Jim was so wasted how would he have created so much brilliance! I recommend this play to anyone who wanted more than just "The Doors" movie to remember Jim by.

Years ago I saw Jim Morrison perform live as a member of The Doors. His powerful and compelling image is still seared onto my brain synapses. Last week I saw Morrison again -- live on stage. This time it was in Gary Flaxman's "Swimming To The Moon". Sure it was not the real Lizard King on the stage -- but actor Damon Shalit was channeling the incredibly unpredictable energy and spirit of Jim. The rest of the excellent ensemble cast was very ably directed by Judy Rose in what seemed a flawless performance. This is no trite dead rock star story but a multi-layered stage production that challenges what we all believed to be the truth.

I go to the theater to get what I CAN'T get from movies and TV: real, raw emotion that is now, that is immediate, that is right in front of me, so close I can touch it. Swimming to the Moon may be about Jim Morrison, but the feelings and subjects it deals with - death, war, politics - are as relevant today as they ever were. This play is beautifully written, flawlessly directed & acted, and will make you FEEL. Take a friend because you're going to want to talk about it for hours afterwards - I know I did.

I went to see this play not knowing more about Jim Morrison then the song "Light my fire". He and I would be the same age today. I never knew what impact he had on people. He was a genius ahead of his time. So much in this script is like today, what is happening politically, corporately and more. The cast, directing and lighting were very good. Totally recommend for all to see this great play!
